Position – Mechanical Inspector

PACIFIC is seeking Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Sprinkler Inspector for Prevailing Wage field inspection in Los Angeles for LAWA project.

Region: Los Angeles for LAWA project.

Status: Full-time, on-site

Opening: Fall 2024, Immediate

Essential Job Duties for LAWA Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Sprinkler Inspector:

  •  1. Proficient in inspection of rough and finish HVAC, plumbing installation including pumps, piping, ducts, equipment, controls, vaults and associated works both in building construction and underground piping.
  • 2. Knowledge and experience with inspection of fire sprinkler systems also required for this position.
  • 3. Experience with review and approval of monthly progress payment & as-built drawings from contractor required.
  • 4. Possible overtime during week and weekends may also be required.
  • 5. Ability to write clear and effective reports and is capable of working with Microsoft Office and other computer software and applications including Prolog & VEO.

  • Flexibility to work alternative shifts including weekends and nights
  • Effective with personal time management and multi-tasking
  • Ability to work in outdoor field construction sites, and office include sitting for periods of time.
  • Have general knowledge of code requirements
  • Knowledge of industry safety practices and OSHA safety regulations
  • Ability to write reports and memos
  • Capable to work with common Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat (PDF files)
  • OSHA 30 (prior to the assignment). The 30-hour training will have been received within the last 4 years.
  • Minimum Years and Experience: 3 years or more of experience performing mechanical inspections on large scale Public Works type projects.

Education

  • Minimum Education Level: High school diploma (or equivalent).

Certification

  •  Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Mechanical Inspector;
  • 30-hour Cal-OSHA training prior to assignment. The 30-hour training will have been received within the last 4 years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pervious LAWA or Airport Inspection Experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (or Higher) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering or relevant majors.
  • Professional certifications for source inspection CWI (AWS), PCI Level I or higher (PCI), and ACI Field Testing Grade I and willingness to perform source inspection
  • Professional certifications by recognized inspection agencies (ICC, Caltrans, QSP, etc.) for applicable CTMs, ASTMs and/or ACI procedures and take samples and perform field-controlled tests of construction materials for quality assurance
  • Experience in construction management and inspection of Public Works or Industrial facilities, serving as Construction QA Inspector, or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with projects on Caltrans Right-of-Way
  • Ability to use the common Caltrans bridge construction manuals: Construction Manual, Prestress Manual, Falsework Manual, and Foundation Manual.
  • Knowledge to perform independent check calculations for temporary works such as falsework and shoring, and quantity takeoff per Caltrans manuals
  • Willingness to learn new construction technologies
  • Design Build experience
